Neha Sham Dewalkar has dedicated her life to Emotional Handling, a passion that emerged during her 15-year teaching career from 1982 to 1997. While teaching, Neha witnessed the struggles of her students and their families—ranging from mental health challenges and financial difficulties to learning disabilities and lack of self-confidence. This sparked her interest in mental health and counseling, prompting her to incorporate emotional handling techniques into her teaching methods, transforming her approach and positively impacting her students.
After leaving her teaching career to focus on her family, Neha’s passion led her to join the Institute of Psychological Health (IPH), Thane, India, as an active volunteer in their Manovikas Project, a community mental health initiative spreading awareness about mental health across Maharashtra. Since 2005, she has conducted over 250 awareness programs and continues to advocate for emotional well-being.
Neha is also part of MAITRA Telephonic Helpline, an emotional first-aid initiative by IPH that has been providing free, quality tele-counseling since 1998. Through her work with MAITRA, Neha offers crucial support to individuals in distress, maintaining rigorous quality standards with a ‘Call Autopsy’ method. Her unwavering commitment to mental health advocacy and emotional support continues to make a lasting impact on countless lives.
